Symbio Laboratory

Project designed and executed for Symbio Laboratories

• Project Overview
The symbio laboratory project focused on developing a modern laboratory environment designed to support scientific research, analytical procedures, and daily laboratory operations. Delivered in January 2026, the objective was to create a space that prioritizes precision, safety, and efficiency within a controlled research setting. The symbio laboratory required a well organized layout capable of supporting continuous experimentation while maintaining strict workflow control, ensuring reliable results and a professional environment for laboratory staff.

• The Challenge
One of the main challenges of the symbio laboratory project was designing a space capable of supporting intensive laboratory activity while maintaining high safety and organization standards. Laboratories require precise handling of materials and processes, where minimizing risk and ensuring proper ventilation is essential. Ensuring efficient workflows, proper equipment placement, and quick access to safety systems was critical. The environment also needed to support complex procedures while maintaining cleanliness and preventing contamination during daily operations in the symbio laboratory.

• Our Approach
To address these requirements, the symbio laboratory was developed using specialized materials and equipment selected for durability and performance. The workstations were built with phenolic countertops, providing chemical resistant and easy to clean surfaces suitable for laboratory use. fume hoods was incorporated to ensure safe handling of hazardous substances and proper ventilation. laboratory chairs were selected to provide ergonomic support for staff during extended procedures, while emergency showers were installed to enhance safety and ensure immediate response in case of accidents within the symbio laboratory.

• The Result
The completed symbio laboratory now provides a safe, efficient, and high performance environment tailored for scientific and analytical activities. With durable surfaces, integrated safety systems, and optimized workflows, the laboratory supports accurate and consistent results under demanding conditions. The space enables staff to operate effectively within a structured environment that prioritizes safety, functionality, and performance, ensuring the symbio laboratory meets the highest standards for modern laboratory operations

Frequently Asked Questions

Symbio Laboratories specializes in advanced laboratory solutions designed to support safe, efficient, and compliant scientific environments. Their laboratory projects focus on high-performance infrastructure, including ventilation systems, fume hoods, and laboratory workspace optimization for research, pharmaceutical, industrial, and educational applications.

Not all fume hoods models are equally suited for every laboratory process, and selecting the correct Airflex model for your application is one of the most important decisions in the specification process. The A-Airflex and F-Airflex fume hoods are designed for routine chemical operations such as light acid digestions, vapour and gas extraction, and chemical transfers including pipetting. These models are ideal for applications involving low to moderate concentrations of chemical fumes and vapours.

The G-Airflex and P-Airflex fume hoods are designed for more demanding chemical processes, including prolonged acid digestions and complex chemical reactions that generate higher concentrations of corrosive fumes. Their construction and airflow design make them better suited for handling aggressive acidic environments and continuous chemical processing.

The right model for your specific application is determined during the design consultation based on the chemicals involved, the work procedures, and the laboratory’s ventilation requirements.

Norlab fume hoods supplied for the symbio laboratory project are engineered to meet SEFA 1 performance criteria for laboratory fume hood containment, along with applicable ANSI/ASHRAE 110 requirements for installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of laboratory fume cupboards. Manufacturing is supported by an ISO 9001 certified quality management system to ensure consistent product performance, reliability, and traceability.

After installation, fume hood performance should be verified before initial use with a face velocity measurement in accordance with site safety procedures and applicable laboratory ventilation requirements. Ongoing performance verification — including face velocity checks — should be conducted annually at minimum, or after any relocation, duct modification, or HVAC system change.

Many regulated facilities, including pharmaceutical GMP laboratories, university research laboratories, and accredited testing environments, require more frequent verification. Norlab provides technical documentation to support initial commissioning and ongoing compliance records.

Yes. Norlab can design and deliver customized fume cupboard solutions tailored to your laboratory requirements, industry standards, workflow processes, and ventilation needs. Whether your company operates in pharmaceuticals, education, industrial testing, healthcare, or research, the project can be adapted to suit your available space, chemical applications, and compliance requirements.

The consultation process includes understanding your laboratory operations, identifying the correct fume hood model, and ensuring the final solution aligns with safety, airflow, and long-term operational performance requirements.
